Alcoholism has been a blanket over some of my family members. Both of my Uncles were alcoholics. Ones health succumbed to it. After years of alcohol abuse, his kidneys weakened and he passed away. The other, by the grace of God, over came his demons, and was able to quit before death took him.
I often heard horrifying stories about my grandfather, who is a Veteran, he would wake up from nightmares of Vietnam, combat and death, and think he was still there. He turned to alcohol….and that is where the root of addiction began.
At 30 years old, I had my first drink of alcohol. When I realized I liked it a little bit too much, I took a few steps back, and loved myself a little more, and vowed that addiction would not ruin this temple. A couple of months of drinking was enough for a life time.
More to come…………….
